Attentive, minimal, and practical — Sebastian Marbacher designs products, furniture pieces, and spaces that are socially anchored. His objects and instal- lations, often made with natural materials and always driven by the logic of the man- ufacturing process, invite contemplation.
Sebastian Marbacher is an internationally active designer who has worked in close collaboration with companies, galleries, and cultural institutions such as Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, Okro Gallery, Theater Nordkraft, Monocle, Museum für gestal- tung Zürich, Ishinomaki Laboratory and Freitag.
After completing his vocational training as a draughtsman, he studied industrial design at Zurich University of the Arts and founded Studio Sebastian Marbacher in 2013. In 2017 and 2022, he was awarded the prestigious Swiss Design Award by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture. Sebastian Marbacher lives and works in Zürich, Switzerland.
